Job description

RESEARCH ASSOCIATE I/II/III

 

Heligenics is an exciting startup company that aims to transform Personalized Medicine. We have developed a proprietary technology called the GigaAssay that enables us to measure how genetic variation in human genes impacts gene function on a timeline that has previously been impossible. This technology has widespread applications across all levels of patient care and drug development. For more info on Heligenics please check out our website: http://www.heligenics.com.

 

We are looking for candidates to join our small team and help Heligenics change the future of personalized medicine. The position is for a Research Associate I/II/III, with the nature of the final position and level of remuneration being dependent on the candidate’s level of experience. Heligenics offers a base salary, comprehensive benefits (health, dental & vision insurance), 401K plan with matching, bonus and stock options. This is an on-site position in Las Vegas.

 

The search will remain open until filled. The start date is as soon as possible.

 

This role is focused on cell engineering with a strong tissue culture focus. Core job responsibilities include:

  • Using lentivirus to engineer human cell lines to express fluorescent reporters, over-expression constructs or to generate knock in or knock out of various genes.

  • Single cell cloning of engineered cell lines and screening clones for activity.

  • Developing and validating flow cytometry-based reporter assays.

  • Managing cell culture stocks and laboratory supplies.

  • Maintaining accurate records in a Laboratory Information Management System.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to group discussions relating to GigaAssay design and optimization.

  • Occasionally reporting performance against goals and standards

  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.

Candidates must;

  • Have mammalian tissue culture experience. Previous experience with lentivirus production and/or flow cytometry is a plus. Experience with managing maintenance of multiple cell lines simultaneously will also be advantageous.

  • Have a research-focused mindset and be willing to develop a deep understanding of the work they perform.

  • Be able to multi-task and manage staggered multi-week workflows.

  • Take self-responsibility for duties to be performed at a high standard and in a time-efficient manner.

  • Be able to follow laboratory protocols, safety procedures and safely operate laboratory equipment.
